Crow Valley Recreation Area

We occasionally meet at the Crow Valley Recreation Area is a recreation area managed by the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture Forest Service so you may have to pay if you camp overnight.  It is a beautiful location with bathrooms and campground open from spring though late fall. The area is somewhat lower than the surrounding area and nearby trees help block the wind. The night sky is quite dark here. Unfortunately headlights and bright lanterns from other campers are a problem.

Directions

Drive north on I25 to Fort Collins and take the Ault exit (269) and head east on Colorado 14 for about 37 miles until you see a sign for Briggsdale. Just follow Colorado 14 until you see the sign for Briggsdale. Instead of turning south to Briggsdale, turn north on CO 392.  CO 392 curves back to the west a bit and then to north. In the turn, just before it turns heads north, is the sign for the turnoff to the Crow Valley Recreation Area.  Its not far from  CO 14 to the turnoff, maybe .2 of a mile (if that).  It is the first turnoff to the left. Follow the paved road to the west (left), it turns to gravel. Just follow the main road for maybe 0.6 mi, it curves to the north.  We usually set up on the north end. There is a small windmill and some old farm implements just  off the road to the east (right). Its not a large area, just take the loop through the campground and you'll easily be able to find your way around.
