Library Telescope Program

The Longmont Astronomical Society has donated 5 telescope kits to the Longmont Public Library. We also applied for and received a grant from the Horkheimer Foundation for a sixth telescope; the items to complete that kit were also donated LAS.

Longmont  library patrons will be able to check out the telescopes from the library similar to how they check out books and other media.  This will provide them with hands-on experience of viewing objects in our universe with a small, easy to use, and high quality telescope. With it they may see the moon and its craters, Jupiter and its bands, Saturn and its rings, and many of the brighter star clusters and nebulas.

LAS donated three telescopes to the Louisville Public Library on June 1, 2016.

LAS has donated three telescopes to the Carbon Valley Library District as of November 2016. We are in process of completing an additional 6 scopes and will deliver those by October 1, 2017.
